Mariam Mohsen is a Cairo-based researcher and writer whose work focuses on political communication and accessibility in public institutions. She serves on the editorial board of The Caravan, the American University in Cairo’s student newspaper, where she contributes to investigative and analytical coverage of governance, social policy, and institutional practice.

Her work has included advising on accessibility in national elections, where she contributed to the introduction of mechanisms aimed at improving ballot secrecy and independent voting for visually impaired citizens. She has also worked with the Central Bank of Egypt on the tactile accessibility of polymer banknotes, examining the relationship between material design and political and economic inclusion.

Mohsen studies political science and integrated marketing communications at the American University in Cairo. She serves as an official Egyptian accessibility ambassador, and her current research focuses on disability rights, political theory, and the design of state institutions and artifacts that shape citizenship and political participation.
