Ellen Laipson is the Director of the International Security program at the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. She was president and CEO of the Stimson Center from 2002 to 2015.  She served in the U.S. government for twenty-five years, as an expert on Middle East issues.  Her last official post was Vice Chair of the National Intelligence Council (1997-2002).
