Sir Suma Chakrabarti is the head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. From 2007 to 2012, he was permanent secretary at the British Ministry of Justice. Prior to that, from 2002, he headed the UK’s Department for International Development. Sir Suma is notable for playing a key role in developing the UK’s Know-How Fund for Central and Eastern Europe
and has worked with the European Commission in improving its programs in the Middle East and North Africa. Sir Chakrabarti also worked in the UK Treasury and, among other roles, has served in the Cabinet’s Office as head of the Economic and Domestic Secretariat.
