Abdussalam Elbelazi
Abdussalam Elbelazi is a distinguished Libyan senior advisor, peacebuilder, and former medical practitioner with nearly four decades of multi-disciplinary expertise. After practicing general and family medicine for over a decade, Elbelazi transitioned into high-level political advisory, civil society leadership, and track II diplomacy. He previously served as Vice President of Libya’s National Front Party and as an advisor to the preparatory committee for the national dialogue.
Since 2015, Elbelazi has served as a Senior Advisor for the CMI Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, where he designs innovative conflict resolution initiatives, facilitates critical negotiations, and fosters reconciliation. Additionally, his work with the Austrian Study Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution (ASPR) led groundbreaking dialogue frameworks addressing Libya’s water scarcity. He is also a prominent political analyst, media contributor, and human rights advocate.
