Shahinaz Essmat is a PhD candidate in International Relations at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, where her research focuses on AI governance, digital infrastructure, and the political economy of technological dependency across Africa and the Arab world. She holds an MA in Political Science (International Relations) from the American University in Cairo.
