Antonio de Aguiar Patriota was appointed Brazilian Ambassador to Egypt in 2019. Before holding the Office of Minister of External Relations from 2011 to 2013, he was Ambassador to the United States from 2007 to 2009 and Deputy Foreign Minister in 2010. Prior to his arrival in Cairo, he was Permanent Representative of Brazil to the United Nations from 2013 to 2016 and Ambassador to Italy from 2016 to 2019.  He has also served in Geneva, Beijing and Caracas. Recent articles include “Is the World Ready for Cooperative Multipolarity?”, published by the Brazilian Center for International Relations, CEBRI in 2018, and “Collective Security and Collective Responsibility in International Interventions”, published by the Palgrave Encyclopedia of Peace and Conflict Studies in 2020.
